Madikeri Principal District and SessionsCourt awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment and Rs 1 lakh each to the three accused who were involved in the trafficking of the banned drug hashish oil. The accused are Ahmed Kabir (37), Abdul Khader (37) and Mohammad Muzamil (37), residents of Kasaragod district of Kerala state.
It has been reported that on October 29, 2022, three people in a KL33F6825 Maruti Celerio car were transporting andplanning to sell narcotics hashishoil near IB road atBhagamandala-Madikeri junction which comes under Bhagamandala police station. After receiving a proper Information Bhagamandala Police Station Officer Priyanka, ASI Belliyappa MC, Mahadeva Swamy and the staff raided the car and found 1 kg 160 grams of hashish oil the car.
After completing the investigation, the three accused in the car were arrested under the NDPS Act and produced before the court. Priyanka submitted a charge sheet to the Principal District and Sessions Court of Madikeri on November 21, 2022. The trial court sentenced the accused to 10 years rigorous imprisonment under the NDPS Act and a fine of Rs1 lakh each has been imposed and in case of failure to pay the fine, another 3 years imprisonment has been imposed.
