Virajpet MLA A S Ponnanna addressing the media persons in Virajpet recently said that the state government’s guarantee schemes had been successful, stating that the Congress’ vote share of 32.6% during the 2019 Lok Sabha election had increased to 44.6% this time.

He said that the guarantee schemes will not be discontinued, adding that the errors in implementation, if any, will be rectified.

Ponnanna also said that people have given their mandate and decided to make Congress the main opposition. An opposition is essential in a democratic set-up. Or else, there will be anarchy, he added.

The MLA conceded that the Congress had failed to analyze the coalition between BJP and JD(S) in Southern Karnataka.

In Virajpet, the party did not earn votes as expected and the BJP has bagged a large share of votes,” he said and congratulated Yaduveer Krishnadatta Wadiyar for his victory.

Ponnanna hoped the newly elected MP would respond to people’s problems and initiate development works in the constituency.

The Virajpet MLA said the confusion regarding the extension of the Virajpet main road has been cleared. The work will continue after the rainy season, he added.

CESC has appointed 30 linemen for Virajpet division, to solve the issues during rains. The development works will be accelerated as the elections are over, the MLA said.
