Counting of votes was recently held for South West Graduate Constituency at Mysore Maharani College and BJP candidate Dr. Dhananjay Sarji who got 37627 votes won by a margin of 6935 votes.

Ayanur Manjunath of Congress received 13516 votes while Raghupathi Bhat who fought the election as BJP rebel candidate received 7039 votes. Dhananjay Sarji easily won in the first preference votes only as the limit was fixed at 30692.

It is sad to note that about 5115 votes were disqualified even though all voters are well educated. It is severe setback for Congress in the South West Graduate Constituency.
