The 78th Independence Day was recently celebrated meaningfully by the Kodagu district administration at the fort premises, Madikeri.
Kodagu District in-charge Minister and Minor Irrigation, Science and Technology Minister N S Boseraju hoisted the National flag.
Speaking on the occasion N S Boseraju informed the achievements and progress of the state government and the Minister appreciated the district administration for the able tackling of monsoon fury.
MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda presided over the programme. Air Marshal (Retd) K.C.Cariappa, Deputy Commssioner (DC)Dr Venkat Raja, District Superintendent of Police (SP)K.Ramarajan, Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Chief Executive Officer (CEO)Â Anand Prakash Meena, Kodagu Circle Chief Conservator of Forests and others were present on the occasion.
Despite the rain it was special that the students of various schools performed dances on patriotism.
Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr. BR Ambedkar and many others who fought for freedom and the country’s first Army Chief Field Marshal Cariappa were remembered on the occasion.
