The opening ceremony of the All India Sainik Schools Football Tournament (Group H) was held with great enthusiasm at the Mariappa Kempaiah Stadium, Sainik School Kodagu, today.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Col Amar Jeet Singh, who inaugurated the championship in the presence of Sqn Ldr Mohammad Shaji, Dr. Chinmay (SMO), the Senior Master, escort staff members of participating schools, academic and administrative staff members of Sainik School Kodagu.
The ceremony commenced with a spectacular and disciplined march past by the
participating teams — Sainik School Amaravatinagar, Sainik School Kazhakootam,
Sainik School Kalikiri, and the host school, Sainik School Kodagu. The march past
was followed by an energetic cultural performance — Dollu Kunita, a traditional folk
dance of Karnataka, performed by the cadets of Class VII, showcasing the rich
heritage of the region.
In his address, Col Amar Jeet Singh appreciated the discipline, sportsmanship, and
enthusiasm of all cadets. He encouraged them to compete in the true spirit of the game
and uphold the values of camaraderie and fair play. He then officially declared the
championship open, marking the beginning of the Group H football tournament.
The event set an inspiring tone for the days of competition ahead, with teams ready to
showcase their skills and sportsmanship in pursuit of glory.
