Ground breaking ceremony held for power grid strengthening works.

Kodagu district in-charge Minister N.S. Bosaraju performed ground breaking ceremony at Bittanagala in Virajpet Taluk recently for the Rs.120 Crore power grid strengthening works.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that electricity lines pass through forests, hilly areas and plantations across Kodagu. The power lines in the district are old and the state government has approved an ambitious plan to re strengthen them and added that the works should be completed within a year.

Minister Bosaraju also said that according to the expectations of the people of this area, the state government has taken steps to strengthen the power lines and now the works have been started.

The program was organised by Chamumadeswari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) at Heggade Samaj Hall, Bittanagala, Virajpet. MLA A.S. Ponnanna speaking on the occasion said that under the project, 870 km power lines will be strengthened.

Speaking further the MLA said that under the project, the old electric wires in the 11 KV power lines will be replaced with corded conductors and strengthened. In order to avoid interruptions in the power lines during the rainy season, he said that the old electric wires of the HT main lines adjacent to the highways and state main roads will be replaced.

He also said that in order to provide quality electricity with good voltage to the consumers, installation of around 271 converters will be done, to avoid electrical accidents in densely populated and dangerous areas, the electric wires in the LT power lines will be reinforced using AB cables and the old electric poles of the power lines will be replaced.

In the ‘Jana Spandana’ program organized in the school hall premises of Ammathi, the district in-charge minister received the grievances of the common people and gave instructions to the officials to take necessary steps to solve the problems.

District Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee Chairman Dharmaja Uthappa, Kodagu District Deputy Commissioner Dr Venkat Raja and other departmental officials and local leaders participated in the program.
