An old women died on the spot after being attacked by a wild elephant in Chennaiyanakote village.
Kathai (72) is the unfortunate deceased, and the villagers have expressed their anger against the forest department. It is reported that Kathai, who was coming out of her son’s house, was suddenly attacked and trampled by the wild elephant.
Due to the negligence of the forest department, the villagers expressed their anguish that the wild elephants are taking shelter in the villages and in the plantations
Sanket Poovaiah, member of the State Wildlife Board, visited the spot and instructed the officials to take necessary action.
Virajpet MLA and Chief Minister’s Legal Adviser A.S. Ponnanna contacted senior forest officials over phone and collected information about the incident. Forest officials visited the spot and promised to provide relief.
