District BJP general secretary VK Lokesh speaking at a press conference recently said that the congress is following a coercive and threatening strategy by registering a case against a BJP member who protested in Virajpet against the state government’s move to increase petrol-diesel prices. By doing this congress is misleading the people and thought that they can weaken the mind of BJP members and it is never possible, he added.
Speaking further he said that like in all the taluk centers of the state, there was a protest in Virajpet too with regarding the increase in fuel price. Whereas not a single case has not been registered in any other part of the state surprisingly a case has been registered against BJP leaders and activists in Virajpet only and for this BJP is never afraid and will deal this case legally, he informed.Â
Lokesh also clarified that no property was damaged due to the protest and prior permission was also obtained for the protest.
He also criticised that there has been no development in the last one-year rule of Congress. In this background, people not only rejected Congress in the Lok Sabha elections, and also gave a comfortable lead of more than 32 thousand votes in the Virajpet constituency. He also said that BJP will protest in future decision taken against any anti-people programs of the Congress government. Â
He also requested MLAs to inform people what development works have so far been done in the district for last one year and what development works will be under taken during the future.
He also blamed the Congress which came to power, is now making an attempt to take away the right to trees in the Jamma lands and for this also BJP has strongly protested against it. He alleged that the government has tried to confiscate things like animal horns which were used in the rituals in religious centers.Â
District BJP general secretary Mahesh Jaini said that burning effigies of MLAs against the price hike was only part of the protest. He questioned whether the same Congressmen had earlier burnt effigy of K G Bopaiah when BJP was ruling the state. He demanded that a false case which has been registered against the BJP members must be taken back at the earliest.
District BJP General Secretary Talur Kishore Kumar, District BJP Spokesperson B K Arun Kumar, Virajpet Mandal President Manju Ganapathy and Spokesperson Rakesh Devaiah were present in the press conference.
