In the backdrop of frequent rains in the district, attention should be paid to ensure that water does not stagnate in coconut shells, tires, and flower pots around the house. Greater emphasis should be placed on environmental cleanliness. Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja has instructed the concerned department officials to create more awareness in that regard.

He spoke while presiding over the  ‘District Health Campaign’ meeting held recently at the office of the Madikeri  Deputy Commissioner.

If the environment around the house is clean, good health can be maintained. It is essential to pay attention to prevent the spread of mosquitoes. If larvae are found in stagnant water, it should be destroyed. In that regard, he suggested that the Health and Family Welfare Department and local organizations should create necessary awareness.

Greater awareness should be created about the health and well-being of infants and mothers. It is very important to protect the health of mothers and infants during childbirth. In that regard, more care should be taken. In addition, mothers should get their health checked every month. Awareness should be created about this, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. Satish Kumar informed that 515 deliveries were made in the month of March and 5702 deliveries were made in the current year.
