Anantharaja Gowda Puttur (82), honorary advisor to the Kedambadi Ramaiah Gowda Memorial Management Committee, researcher, and author, passed away on 20th April, following a heart attack.

It is reported that while travelling in a car near the market area in Madikeri town, he suffered a mild heart attack. Subsequently, the vehicle went out of control and overturned at the roadside. He was immediately shifted to a nearby private hospital; however, he had succumbed by the time he was admitted.

Originally hailing from Puttur taluk in Dakshina Kannada district, Anantharaja Gowda Puttur was residing in Kotekad village under the K. Nidugane Gram Panchayat limits in Madikeri taluk, where he also maintained a coffee estate.

He authored several books documenting the history of the Arebhashe Gowda community, meticulously compiling historical records. His book IN PURSUIT OF OUR ROOTS – KODAGU and DAKSHINA KANNADA GOWDAS, was published in 2015.

He played a significant role in preserving and propagating the legacy of Kedambadi Ramaiah Gowda. He was also instrumental in the establishment of the bronze statue of Kedambadi Ramaiah Gowda at Mangalore. In recognition of his contributions, he had received several honours, including the Karnataka Arebhashe Samskruti and Sahitya Academy Award.
