Yadish Ramesh from Kodagu district, who is pursuing his postgraduate degree at Northeastern University, has been selected as one of India’s representatives for the prestigious Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR) 2025 Conference. The son of Madikeri City Municipal Councillor K.S. Ramesh and K.R. Ramya, Yadish is among a select group of representatives chosen from Asia. The global conference will be held in Tokyo, Japan, from August 20 to 24, 2025.

During 2025, Yadish Ramesh has already represented India at several global forums. He represented the Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY) at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Conference at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, and was also India’s representative at the 11th International Youth Conference held in Los Angeles.

HPAIR, an internationally recognised student organisation based at Harvard College, provides a forum for exchanging ideas on key economic, political and social issues in the Asia-Pacific region. Past conferences have featured distinguished leaders such as former South Korean President and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kim Dae-jung, Australian Governor-General Peter Hollingworth, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Singapore President S.R. Nathan, United States Ambassador to Japan John Thomas Schieffer, and former Goldman Sachs Chairman Philip Murphy.

Over time, the HPAIR International Conference has grown into the largest student-run annual event in the Asia-Pacific region, attracting distinguished global figures and future leaders each year. The organisation believes that harmony in Asia-Pacific economic, political, and social issues can only be achieved through active participation of qualified representatives such as Yadish Ramesh. His presence is expected to further strengthen the global dialogue on Asia and international relations.

Describing this as not only a personal honour but also a unique opportunity to contribute to global discussions as a representative of India, Yadish expressed gratitude to Madikeri MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda, MUDA President Rajesh Yallappa, and the Karnataka Government for their support, encouragement, and guidance in his journey.

The Tokyo conference will bring together global leaders, policymakers, and change-makers on one platform to engage in in-depth discussions on key international issues, providing a rare opportunity for future leaders to share their perspectives and work towards effective solutions.
