Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar announced plans to establish a separate corporation to support ex-servicemen in the state. He stated that the matter would be discussed and finalized in an upcoming cabinet meeting.
Shivakumar made the announcement while felicitating senior army officers, ex-servicemen, and the families of martyred soldiers at the “Jai Hind Sabha” program held at the Town Hall in Bangalore.
“On the recommendation of Mallikarjuna, President of the Congress Party’s Retired Soldiers’ Wing, we are considering setting up a corporation. We are committed to protecting and supporting the soldiers who have served our country,” he said.
During the event, retired senior army officers and ex-servicemen were honored with mementos, and tributes were paid to the families of brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
Honorees included Ashoka Chakra awardee Late Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Ashoka Chakra awardee Colonel Jojan Thomas, Shaurya Chakra awardees Major M.C. Muthanna Major Ganesh Maddappa, Captain M.V. Panjal, Major Mohan Gangadharan, Major Shafiq Mohammed Khan, and Army Medal awardee Colonel Ramamurthy, along with their families.
The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee organized the Jai Hind Sabha under the directive of the All India Congress Committee (AICC). Over a thousand senior army officers and ex-servicemen participated. The AICC has called for such programs across the country to honor and support the selfless service of Indian soldiers.
