Kodagu District commissioner Venkat Raja has instructed the nodal officers and engineers to take necessary precautionary measures immediately for the upcoming monsoon.
Venkat Raja presided over the “District Disaster Management Authority Meeting” which was held at his office hall, in Madikeri recently.
This year monsoon is likely to start in the district in June. Therefore, necessary precautionary measures should be taken to prevent any disaster that may occur due to heavy rains, he said.
He advised that caution should be taken to avoid any loss of life or damage to livestock during the monsoon.
He said that nodal officers have already been deployed and that necessary precautionary measures should be taken in their respective jurisdictions and that more vigil should be maintained in sensitive areas.
Firefighters should make necessary preparations to ensure the safety of people in flood-affected areas. The DC further said that coordination should be achieved with the NDRF team.
DC also said that health and Family Welfare Department officials should stock up on medicines and create more awareness to prevent the outbreak of infectious diseases during the monsoon. They should be more careful in sensitive and ultra-sensitive areas. DC directed the Public Works and Panchayat Raj Department engineers to repair the roads in their respective jurisdictions.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the officers of various departments like Police, Revenue, Panchayat Raj, Public Works, Fire and Rescue should take necessary action regarding the work to be done in their respective departmental jurisdictions.
Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya, Assistant commissioner Vinayak Narvade, Additional Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar, district and taluk level officers and others were present in the meeting.
