Planter killed in wild elephant attack

Chinnappa (76) died when a wild elephant attacked him  in Avaregund under Siddapur Gram Panchayat limits of Virajpet taluk.

It is reported that deceased Chinnappa opened his door at midnight to investigate some strange noice coming from outside his house. When he opened the door, the wild elephant suddenly  gored  him and Chinnappa died on the spot.

State Wildlife Board member Sanket Poovaiah visited the scene of the incident and offered his condolences to the family of the deceased. He assured that the Forest Department will take appropriate action against the wild elephant.

Speaking to reporters in Madikeri, Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor and Virajpet constituency MLA A.S. Ponnanna said that he would discuss the matter with the Forest Minister and senior officials of the Forest Department to take further action.

Forest officials and local representatives visited the spot.
