Dr Mantar Gowda, who were indirectly responsible for the suicide of BJP worker Vinay Somaiya in Bengaluru.
Vinay Somaiya had mentioned the names of some people, including the names of Kodagu MLAs, in the death note written before his suicide, and even after the family members complained, the police have not taken adequate action. Vijayendra, said that the police have failed to take action due to the influence of the government.
The young Vinay committed suicide under pressure from the two MLAs. He said that a posts about the failures in the development work of the constituency were being circulated on social media and the MLAs had put pressure on the police to arrest the group admins.
Vijayendra further said that the police stations are functioning as Congress offices, which is a recent development Kodagu. The rights of the workers of the opposition parties are being snatched away by the present government and oppression is being carried out through the police. A written complaint has already been given to the Chief Ministers and Home Ministers of the state.
An FIR should be registered against the two MLAs. Until then, the body of the Vinay will not be cremated. Vijendra warned that if the police department fails, then the department will be responsible for future disasters.
Highlighting the past incidents in the state, Vijayendra said that the police should not act accoding to political pressure under any circumstances, as this will cause problems in the future. The police department should not act as puppets of the government but it should respect the law and work accordingly. He said that BJP workers in the state need not be afraid .
If an FIR is not registered against the two MLAs as stated in the complaint, the protest will continue by laying siege to the police station.
Kodagu Mysore Lok Sabha member Yaduveera Datta Wodeyar, who participated in the protest, spoke and demanded that the police should immediately take legal action against the two MLAs who are directly responsible for the death of the BJP worker.
Former MP Pratap Simha expressed his anger over the incident and accused the two MLAs from Kodagu. They were elected as MLAs by accident and are committing atrocities on the people. An attempt is being made to intimidate a BJP worker by misusing the police. He made a serious allegation that conflicts are being created between castes in the district and cases of suppressing BJP workers by using police force.
Former MLA K G Bopaiah spoke and said that if the police do not take legal action, unrest and anarchy will be created.
MLC Suja Kushalappa, Mysore MLAs Sri Vatsa, Ravikumar, Hassan MLA Pritam Gowda, Mysore Mayor Shivaraj, Madikeri Virajpet, Somwarpet, Virajpet, party office bearers of the district, BJP leaders from Periyapatna area of Mysore district and district leaders Bharatish, Robin Devaiah, Napanda Ravi Kalappa, Mahesh Jaini, Nallira Challan, VK Lokesh, Anita Poovaiah, Shweta Yamuna Sangappa, Sarita Suvin Ganapathy, Gautam Manukumar Rai, SG Medappa, Heroor Chandrashekhar, MM Charan, Anudeep Mokshit and activists participated in the protest.
The Kodagu district police had made heavy deployment of police force in the wake of the protest led by the BJP state president. at the Kushalnagar government hospital, where Vinay’s body was kept.
Vijayendra gave the authorities a one-hour ultimatum. During this time, a heated exchange took place between the police and the BJP workers.
They were demanding that the names of chief minister’s legal advisor A S Ponnanna and MLA Dr Manthar Gowda be included in the FIR in connection with the suicide of BJP worker Vinay Somaiah in Bengaluru
Later, the protestors attempted to march towards the DySP’s office. However, police, forcibly detained the leaders at the Raitha Sahakara Bhavana. BJP State president B Y Vijayendra and 71 BJP workers were arrested, when they attempted to enter the DySP’s office at Kushalnagar. Vinay Somaiah’s body was then sent with tight security to his native village Gonimaruru in Somwarpet taluk.
The final rites of Somaiah were held as per the Arebhashe Gowda community. Many BJP leaders, MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, paid their last respects to the Vinay Somaiah’s body and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace. The rituals were performed by Somaiah’s brother Vivek.
