As per the government order, it is mandatory for all homestays operating in Kodagu district to register with the Tourism Department. Even though sufficient time has been given to many homestay owners in this regard, still many are not at registered with the Department.
Now the district administration has taken this seriously and has advised the unregistered homestays to register compulsorily. It has also been informed that legal action will be taken against the homestays operating illegally without registering under the Tourism Department.
Those homestays which are already operating with a license for five years from the Tourism Department and whose license period is being expiring in soon have been informed to renew the license.
The Tourism Department has issued guidelines for the registration of homestays and has asked them to register on-line through the website https://kttf.karnatakatourism.org/login.
When the authorised Tourism Department officials visit the homestay for inspection, the homestay certificate or the document of application for homestay registration must be presented. Otherwise, legal action will be taken against the owner of the homestay.

Anita Bhaskar, Deputy Director, Tourism Department, has requested those who operating hotels, restaurants, resorts, tours and travel agencies and amusement parks in the district to register their establishments on the website of the Karnataka Tourism Department http://kttf.karnatakatourism.org/ at the earliest.
