Kodava Woman Wins National Film Award for “Kandeelu”

Kandeelu”, a Kannada movie produced and directed by Kottukathira Yashoda Prakash, has won the National Award for Best Film. The lead role was played by Eeramanda Khushi Kaveramma.

Yashoda Prakash is the first Kodava woman and only the fourth woman from Karnataka to win a National Film Award. 

Yashoda Prakash credited the win to her team and dedicated the award to her parents Mandeyanda Ayyappa and Radha Ayyappa. Kandeelu also won an award at the Bangalore International Film Festival.
