Former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda Speaking at the honorary awards ceremony of the Karnataka Arebhashe Samskriti and Sahithya Academy for the year 2022 and 2023 and launch of the research essay and works release at Kodagu Gowda Samaja, Madikeri recently said that in the Kodagu district, Kodava’s Arebashe speaking people and many small communities who speaks their language are living their life here in Kodagu . All people should be aware of the history of Kodagu and have to work for the development of Kodagu.
Speaking further DV Sadananda Gowda has called for the saving and to develop their local languages. People should not fight for their caste and language. All have a to live in society in harmony without conflicting and everyone has to move together and opined that any local language should flourish and must remain for ever.
We have to teach children our mother tongue Arebhashe language. Kannada and English language also. In our homes we should teach our mother tongue and speak Arebhashe and added that arts, culture, literature and rituals should also be developed.
DV Sadananda Gowda explained that there are more than seven thousand small languages in the world and more than three and a half thousand small languages in India.
Sadananda Gowda felt that it should not be forgotten that culture and traditions remain from local languages, including Arebashe and Kodava language.
Even though many language are spoken in our Nation, we have unity in our Nation. The former chief minister further said that in this regard, the local culture and ritual traditions should continue and be preserved.
Hundreds of rituals and culture from birth to death are seen in arebashe speaking people which are all wonderful. Therefore, the culture and traditions of the past should not disappear and we have to preserve no matter how modern and scientifically we grown, Sadananda Gowda said.
Culture and traditions will deteriorate if any mother tongue is ignored. 174 languages are already in danger and in that about 101 languages are in diminishing stage and 71 languages are already vanished. The number of Koraga language speakers has deteriorated. DV Sadananda Gowda said that languages make emotional feelings and unites society.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister’s legal advisers and Virajpet MLA AS Ponnanna, said that the Kodagu district has its own specialty in the country.
There are many small language speakers in Kodagu district, including Kodava and Arebashe. The culture, tradition, rituals in Arebashe race must remain. Culture, arts and heritage should be preserve in Kodagu which will play major role in preserving Kodagu also It should not be forgotten that there is a lot of effort to save the culture and practices of Kodagu .
The role of former chief minister Sadananda Gowda is very important to establish Karnataka Arebhashe Samskriti and Sahithya Academy. The academy is now grown which is a pride to all. MLA A S Ponnanna assured that he will give all kinds of cooperation from the government to the Academy.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. K.K. Radhakrishna, Bangalore Education Specialist and Thinker said that my home language is Tulu but I have learned arebashe -language and added that the sub -language and sub -culture should be preserved . Academy activities should be broad and everyone should walk together and requested build a memorial in the name of Amar Suliya.
Madikeri MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda, said that if the elders were honoured, the young people would be inspired. People should be united irrespective of their parties. Now Hindi is being imposed all over. Hindi speakers are also more but we should not forget our mother tongue.
Speaking on the occasion KG Bopaiah, former Speaker of the assembly, said that for the activities of the academy more cooperation is the need of the hour . It is commendable to recognize those who do good work in society. KG Bopaiah felt that the purpose of establishing a Karnataka Arebhashe Samskriti and Sahithya Academy worthwhile through such programs.
Speaking on the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya said that even local languages should be saved and preserved. She also said that the culture can survive when the language is preserved
Sadananda Mavaji, President of Academy said that in the first meeting after becoming president of the academy it was decided to bring out 12 research.
It is noteworthy that the Academy has unveiled 8 research papers and 8 Arebashe works. Similarly, for books of arebashe have been rewarded. Similarly, it is special to distribute cultural and instrumental tools to other beneficiaries of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes who speak Arebashe
Dr. KV Chidananda, who was honoured with the 2022 honorary award for education and medical services, suggested that the for the girls of Arebashe an amount of one lakh should be given for their higher education.

Kui Siddodu Damodar (Semi -Literature and Educational Service), AK Himakara (Semi -lingual Studies and Research) and Kodakandi Kaveramma Somanna (Semi -lingual and Art) were honoured with the award of 2023.
The introduction of research essay and works of honorary award winners were done by Chandravathi Baddadka. Academy members Lata Prasad Kudpaje, Dr. NA Janesh, Mohan Ponnachan, Tejakumar Kudekallu, Lokesh Urubailu and Sandeep Pulakanda
Academy members Sudana Erappa, Vinod Mudgadde, PS Kariyappa, Kudupaja K. Prakash, Kumara and Kumara, Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture Department were present on the occasion.
