Lokayukta officials hold APMC secy for taking bribe

APMC secretary identified as KC Sandeshwas recently caught by the Lokayukta officials while accepting a bribe of Rs 60,000 from a black pepper trader.

It is reported that a black pepper trader from Virajpet, B S Satwik, was told by Sandesh that if he paid a monthly bribe of Rs 60,000, no cess would be imposed. Sandesh allegedly mounted pressure on him to pay the bribe every month.

Frustrated by this, Satwik filed a complaint. On recent Monday, when Satwik went to the APMC office to hand over the bribe, the accused instructed him to give it to another official. The raid was conducted and Sandesh was taken into custody for interrogation, said the police.

The raid was carried out by Madikeri Lokayukta DySP Prakash, Inspector Lokesh, and other staff members under the guidance of Mysuru Division Lokayukta SP Udesh.
