Kodagu police have succeeded in arresting an accused Mohammed Shoyal (32), a resident of Sunnada Street in Virajpet town, who was stealing hundis and a loudspeaker device and its accessories from mosques. The police seized loudspeaker device, its accessories and Rs three thousand in cash from the accused.
Recently on 19-12-2024 in Kushalanagar Town Police Station, a case was registered in regarding the theft of an offering pot kept in the mosque of Indira Badavane and the device and equipment which were fitted to the mosque’s sound amplifier.
A special team consisting of DySP RV Gangadharappa of Somwarpet sub-division, PI Prakash BG of Kushalanagar police station, PSI Geetha, crime detection personnel and technical personnel conducted an investigation and arrested the accused.
On further investigation, it was revealed that the arrested accused had also stolen from the mosques of Madikeri and Piriyapatna. Police officials said that 2 amplifiers, digital echo reverse mixer, monitor stolen from a mosque under the jurisdiction of Piriyapatna police station and one amplifier, sound mixer equipment stolen from a mosque under the jurisdiction of Madikeri town police station and 2 mobile phones used by the accused have been recovered. Kodagu District Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Ramarajan praised the efficiency of the officers and staff who succeeded in arresting the accused and recovering the stolen goods.
