A preliminary meeting was held recently under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) R. Aishwarya about the Home Health program on behalf of the District Survey Unit of the District Health and Family Welfare Department. On the occasion District Health and Family Welfare Officer (DHO) Dr. Sathish Kumar gave information about ‘Home Health Programme’.
Speaking further he informed that door-to-door screening and testing for non-communicable diseases is carried out for people aged above 30 years. The scheme aims to improve the health status of every one and control non-communicable diseases.
This project will be implemented from January 6 in Kodagu. The plan of the state government is to provide health services at the doorsteps of the people. 150 teams comprising Community Health Officers, Primary Health Officers, Health Inspectors, Asha workers visit every house 3 days a week and conduct inspections and deliver free medicines.
Dr. Sathish Kumar also said that an action plan has already been prepared. Accordingly, blood pressure, diabetes, mouth cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer, cardiovascular diseases, insomnia diseases will be checked. The DHO also informed that if the symptoms of cancer are found, a diagnosis will be made by a specialist doctor and further treatment will be taken.
Non-communicable diseases account for 61.8% of the total deaths in India. District Survey Officer Dr. Srinivas informed that this project is being implemented to find a solution through quick detection and quick treatment to prevent this.
Speaking on the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya urged to make the Home Health Program a success.
