The Principal District and Sessions Judge Hosmani Pundaleeka was recently speaking at a legal awareness and training program for part-time legal volunteers at the district court, Madikeri and as well as distribution of identity cards calledupon that all the poor and helpless people in the society should be made aware of the law and help must be given to them. The programme was jointly organised by District Legal Services Authority and the Bar Association.
Speaking further Judge Hosmani Pundaleeka said that everyone has the right to live as per the constitution of the country. In that regard, along with fundamental rights, duties have been mentioned. Therefore, apart from getting the basic right, the duties must be followed compulsorily. He said that the Legal Services Authority is providing legal awareness and assistance in that direction.
Speaking on the occasion Madikeri Bar Association President M A Nirajan said that legal volunteers should work as a link between the legal service authority and the people. It is very important to get justice to the last person of this society and added that opportunities should be created for the common people and those who are deprived of facilities and awareness should be created about the law.
District Legal Service Authority Member Secretary Shubha said that the Legal Service Authority is working with the objective of providing legal services to the common man and requested that part-time legal volunteers should join hands in that regard.
Advocate K.M. Meena Kumari gave information to the part-time legal volunteers about the awareness of the law and Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities Empowerment Department Officer K.G. Vimala informed about the facilities for the senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
