Grand welcome in Kodagu for “Kannada Jyothi Ratha Yatra”

The Kannada Jyothi Ratha Yatra, received a warm welcome as it entered Kodagu recently.The yathra which has been touring the state to raise awareness on the 87th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana to be held in Mandya.

At the border village of Sampaje, schoolchildren, Panchayat members and leaders welcomed the procession and subsequent it continued to Madenadu, Madikeri, Mekeri, Hakatturu, Murnad, Kakotuparambu, Kadanuru, and Virajpet, with locals offering greetings at every stop.

At General Thimayya Circle in Madikeri, Kodagu Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Venkat Raja paid floral tributes to the Bhuvaneshwari idol. Hassan district’s cultural troupes added to the lively atmosphere with trumpets and the rhythm of Chetti drums. Members of the Women and Child Development departments and Sthree Shakti groups extended a traditional welcome with offerings.
