SDPI state president Abdul Majeed speaking at a press conference in Madikeri recently criticised called Chief Minister (CM) Siddaramaiah a ‘U-turn Chief Minister’ for withdrawing the notices issued over the Waqf land.
He said that the Congress government is acting according to the BJP and RSS agenda. Fearing the central IT cell, Siddaramaiah has decided to withdraw the notices.
He further criticised the government for not filing a case against BJP leader CT Ravi, who made provocative statements about sending all Muslims to Pakistan. He demanded the resignation of Home Minister Dr Parameshwara, accusing him of being unfit for the role.
Majeed further said that there are 1.25 lakh acres of Waqf properties in the state, of which only 23,000 acres are under Waqfs control, while the rest is encroached. Politicians and even some Muslims are among these encroachers. Now, the BJP is spreading false information to gain political advantage in the by-elections. Not an inch of farmers’ land is needed by the Waqf Board. The government could easily resolve the issue by providing alternative land to either farmers or the Waqf.
