The Kodagu District Congress Committee staged a massive protest in Madikeri, condemning the Governor’s decision to allow an investigation against Chief Minister (CM) Siddaramaiah in relation to the MUDA case and accusing the BJP and JDS parties of playing politics in an illegal manner.
Party leaders and workers marched through the main streets of Madikeri town and shouted slogans against the Governor, the Central Government, the BJP and the JD(S) at General Thimayya Circle.
The protestors said that the opposition parties who cannot tolerate popularity of Siddaramaiah, who belongs to the backward class, to continue in power as the Chief Minister are conducting a political conspiracy. After Siddaramaiah took charge as chief Minister of Karnataka the BJP has been trying to de stabilize the Congress government, which has won a majority with a mandate.
KPCC member T P Ramesh said that there is a conspiracy going on to destabilize CM Siddaramaiah, who is the pioneer of social justice, the hope of the downtrodden poor people and the backward and weaker sections of the society. He also said that Siddaramaiah is the leader who exposed many scandals of the central government and shook Prime Minister Modi. In this background, the BJP has misused the office of the Governor in an attempt to remove him from the post of CM.
Speaking on the occasion KPCC general secretary K P Chandrakala said that prosecution against Siddaramaiah has been allowed due to political malice and she requested that the Chief Minister should not resign from his post for any reason.
On behalf of the Kodagu District Congress, President Dharmaja Uthappa submitted a petition containing 7 major demands to the President through Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu.
The Governor’s order against the Chief Minister is not only an attack on the government elected by the people but also a conspiracy to destabilize the government.
It is alleged that the order issued by the Governor against the Chief Minister was done under the influence of the Central Government.
In the protest, former member of the Legislative Council VeenaAcchaiah, Congress leaders Kolyada Girish, B.S. Thammaiah, Tatu Monnappa, Pramod Ganapathy, Muneer Ahmed, Neravanda Umesh, Tennira Maina, T.E. Suresh, R.P. Chandra Shekhar, Kanehitlu Monnappa, Hanif, Johnson Pinto, Rajesh Yallappa, Mohan Das, Suraj Hosur and many leaders and workers participated in large numbers.
