The 78thIndependence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Sainik School Kodagu. Col Amar Jeet Singh, Principal of Sainik School Kodagu, served as the Chief Guest and Reviewing Officer of the Independence Day Parade.
The Chief Guest was escorted to the War Memorial by a Horse Cavalcade, where he paid tribute to the war heroes by laying a wreath, followed by a review of the parade. The event featured a captivating march past by the school’s House contingents, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. The tricolour was then ceremoniously unfurled at the General Thimayya Parade Ground, followed by a prize distribution ceremony.
In his Independence Day address, the Chief Guest honoured the sacrifices made by freedom fighters in securing India’s independence from British rule. He also paid tribute to the warriors from Kodagu and encouraged all cadets to pursue a career in the armed forces, emphasising the importance of protecting the nation’s borders. He highlighted the excellence of the Indian armed forces and urged the cadets to uphold the school’s primary mission. The Chief Guest congratulated all the cadets for their spectacular and immaculate march past, which reflected their consistent hard work, sincere efforts, and dedication to the school. He praised the drill performed by the cadets as a true testament to their dedication and discipline.
The Chief Guest also commended the comprehensive training provided by the school, which ensures the holistic development of cadets by making them physically, mentally, and emotionally strong, enhancing their social skills and instilling a deep sense of patriotism and national pride. He extended his appreciation to the staff members for their tireless guidance and mentorship in instilling these qualities in the cadets. The Chief Guest also acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders and congratulated the girl cadets for bringing laurels to the school by achieving significant success at the recently held All India Sainik Schools Annual Intra Group Sports Meet.
The Chief Guest presented the Principals Commendation Certificate to Manikandan S, PGT (Chemistry), K. Janardhan Rao, Driverand Lokesh J K, General Employee, for their exemplary service to the school. Academic achievers who brought laurels to the school by securing centum in the CBSE Board examination were also felicitated, along with their respective subject teachers.
Divya Singh, the first lady of the school, other dignitaries, members of academic and administrative staff, NCC and PI staff, invited parents and cadets were present on the occasion.
