District in-charge Minister NS Boseraju presiding over the quarterly meeting of the Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) Meeting Hall recently took officials to task for delaying the completion of Kodava Heritage, Mini Vidhana Soudha, Suvarna Karnataka complex and retaining wall on Mangaluru Road.
The minister sought to know why the projects had been delayed even there was sufficient money and directed the DC to submit a report personally after inspecting the ongoing infrastructure works. None of the officials should go on leave until the end of monsoon, he added.
Irked with the progress of the PWD, Boseraju threatened to suspend Executive Engineer Siddegowda. Earlier during the start of the meeting, the minister expressed disappointment with District Health Officer Dr K M Satish kumar for screening only 915 people for dengue tests since January this year. He directed DC to fix a target on screening of patients.
Kodagu DC Dr Venkat Raja informed that visits of tourists to waterfalls and glass bridges had been banned. Boseraju also took Kodagu Medical Sciences Dean Dr Vishal to task when the latter revealed that permission was yet to be obtained for the new district hospital building.
The minister declared that the entire cost of the new building would be recovered from the dean. MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar, MLAs AS Ponnanna and Dr Manthar Gowda were also present on the occasion.
