Kodagu Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Venkat Raja recently inaugurated the ‘Mango and Jackfruit Mela’ in the premises of Kodagu District Hopcoms, a subsidiary organization of Horticulture Department.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Dr Venkat Raja said that various types of mangoes and jackfruits including mallika, sindoora, badami, rasapuri, totapuri were available in the Mela. DC also said that the objective of the Mango Mela is to provide mango and jackfruit lovers to get healthy fruits. Mango and jackfruit fairs have been organized in various districts to promote mango and jackfruit crops. DC also informed that mango and jackfruit sellers from Ramanagara, Kolar and other districts have been participating in this mango fair.
Speaking on the occasion Horticulture Department Deputy Director H.R. Yogesh informed that the objective of the mango fair is to sell naturally ripened carbide-free fruits directly from the farmers to the consumers. Yogesh also said that malagoa, sindhuri, raspuri, totapuri, badami, mallika, daseri fruits are ripened naturally and sold directly from the farmers to the consumers at reasonable prices during this mango fair.
The deputy director of horticulture department also informed that mango, jackfruit, sapota, lemon, seebe and other plants are been put on sale in the mango and jackfruit fair and the public can also buy different types of plants, he added.
