Villagers of Ambatti in Bittangala Gram Panchayat limits in Gonikoppa have displayed banners in the village, venting out their anger against the government and the elected representatives and have decided to boycott the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, as a mark of protest against lack of facilities in the village.
The residents say that the village, which has not seen development in the last 30 years, is not even fit for the movement of people. The drivers refuse to bring vehicles into the village to carry the patients and elderly people to the hospital and to ferry children to schools.
Even though several memorandums were submitted to the administration, it has failed to yield any results, the villagers said.
They further said that roads and other facilities have been provided to the nearby villages but Ambatti village is deprived of basic amenities. Therefore, we have decided to boycott election as the last resort. The banners put up by them on the main roads, state that they will boycott the elections.
No party leaders or workers should enter the village to ask for votes till proper road connectivity, clean drinking water and street lights are provided, the banners state.
Under Jal Jeevan Mission, even though bore wells are drilled and water tanks are constructed, water supply has not been provided.
Wildlife menace has been a serious issue during the night. And yet there are no street lights.
