Theft in house…two held

Two persons identified as Midlaj (22), an electrician and Fathima (26), both hailing from Ayyangeri in Madikeri taluk have been arrested by the Bhagamandala police on the charges of theft at a house in Ayyangeri, Bhagamandala.

The police have recovered 177 grams of gold worth Rs 12.10 lakh, bike worth Rs 2.20 lakh and two mobile phones worth Rs 20,000. The total value of the seized properties is Rs 14.50 lakh.

In a complaint, Jaleena KH said that she had been to her relatives’ house on April 12. When she returned back on April 13, the back door of the house was found open and 232 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 15.08 lakh were missing from the house. Accordingly, a case was registered at the Bhagamandala station. 

Kodagu Superintendent of Police (SP) K Ramarajan had constituted a team led by Madikeri Rural Circle Inspector to trace the thieves. The team has been successful in solving the case within two days.
