6,517 students have registered for the SSLC examinations in Kodagu district which will be held from March 25 to April 6. Kodagu Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Venkat Raja chairing a preparatory meeting held recently said that there are eight examination centers in Madikeri taluk, 11 in Somwarpet taluk and eight in Virajpet taluk.
DDPI M Chandrakanth said the district has 171 high schools and 3,340 boys studying in those schools. There has been a request to depute health staff and police to the examination centrs. CCTV has been installed at the examination centrs. Arrangements have been made for the webcasting. Squads have been set up to check any malpractices, he added.
Zilla Panchayat CEO Varnith Negi said that students should not fear. Exams should be conducted transparently. Do not give scope for any confusion, he added.
The DC has directed KSRTC bus drivers to ensure that the KSRTC buses do not deny services to students on the day of the exams. All those who show admit cards should be able to travel free of cost, he added. Dr Raja said the exams should be conducted as per the standard operating system (SOS) of the Department of School Education and Literacy. The examination halls should be provided with furniture, seating arrangements, drinking water and other basic facilities. Additional SPKS Sundarraj, SSLC nodal officer Mahadevaswamy and others were present.
