50 girl students were vaccinated to prevent cervical cancer

Recently 50 girl students from different schools  were administered Free Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination to prevent cervical cancer. at a programme held at Government PU College, Madikeri.  The programme  was organised by the Rotary, Madikeri.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Sonia Mandappa, Obstetrician informed that today  one woman in every eight minutes succumbs to cervical cancer in the world which is very dangerous .

To prevent cervical cancer, HPV vaccination is being given to  girl students to the age group between 9 and 14 years. Awareness is necessary about cervical cancer among girls and their parents

Speaking on the occasion, Suday Nanaiah president of  Rotary Madikeri said that there was a plan to vaccinate to around 125 students but only  50 girl student  got consent  letter from their parents and they were  vaccinated.
