Kodagu district in-charge minister N. S. Bosaraju speaking after presiding over the district level quarterly progress review meeting held recently regarding the current (2024-25) Karnataka Development Programs (KDP) (including 20-point programme) at Zilla Panchayat Hall in Madikeri gave a clear direction to the concerned engineers to carry out the road works under the Public Works and Panchayat Raj Department of the district immediately since the rains have stopped.

The minister in charge of the district also said that   the five months November, December, January, February and March are suitable for carrying out civil works in Kodagu district so he advised to concerned departments to kick start their works.

Chief Minister’s Legal Adviser and MLA of Virajpet Assembly Constituency A.S. Ponnanna speaking on the occasion said that filling of pothole work on Virajpet-Madikeri Road should be done and completed immediately.

MLA of Madikeri Constituency Dr. Mantar Gowda said that Rs.20 crore has been released for the two assembly Constituency for the repair of roads and other developmental works and he directed that the officials should diligently perform their duties for the development of the district.

Speaking on the occasion MLC Suja Kushalappa, said that the path holed road should be repaired in the district by December and MLC gave a clear direction to the Public Works and Panchayat Raj Engineers that no delay should be followed for any reason.

MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda said that even though Rs 50 lakh each allocated for the development of Madapur and Jambur roads and work order has been given but expressed great dissatisfaction that the work has not started so far.

Talking about this, District in-charge Minister N.S. Bosaraju asked now the rainy season is over, how can the work not be done even in such a situation, the district in-charge Minister instructed the concerned engineers to blacklist the contractors who are delaying the work even after getting the contract and starting the work.

A.S. Ponnanna speaking further said that adivasis should be provided basic facilities and instructed the concerned department officials that if there is any trouble in the coming days, it should be brought to their attention immediately.

Speaking on the occasion Kodagu Deputy Commissioner (DC) DrVenkat Raja informed that the victims who lost their houses due to the natural calamities that occurred in 2018 and 2019 have already been provided accommodation and if there are any objections can be submitted in this regard, the house allocation has been done in a transparent manner.

Reacting to this MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda said that many victims who lost their homes due to natural calamities that occurred during the year 2018 and 2019 have not beenallotted their homes yet therefore, he requested that the house should be allotted to them.

On the occasion DC said that more than 200 houses have been constructed by Infosys and these houses will also be distributed to the victims.

Due to heavy rains, the people of Karidigodu village near Siddapur are facing problems due to floods on every monsoon, and the matter of giving suitable land to them has been discussed but DC brought to the minister’s attention that the concerned residents are asking for land nearby.

N.S.Bhosaraju advised to take action on priority regarding giving land to the villagers of Karadigodu.

MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda, who also spoke on this occasion, said that the villagers should also be provided with land near Theppadakandi.

Speaking on this occasion, DC Venkat Raja said that government land is being identified within the respective Gram Panchayats to provide land to the landless in the district, and the land will be identified and handed over to the respective Gram Panchayat. Later, the DC informed that they will allot land to the landless on behalf of the Gram Panchayat.
