A free health camp for civic workers of the Madikeri City Municipal Council (CMC) was organised recently by the District Health and Family Welfare Department, District Tobacco Control Cell and the Taluk Health Officer’s Office as part of World No Tobacco Day observance.
Participants in the camp were made aware of the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and underwent examinations relating to oral health, dental health, tobacco de-addiction and mental health.

CMC President P. Kalavathi attended the programme. Medical experts who participated included Dr. Nachiket Venkatesh and Dental Officer Dr. Jishnu of Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences and Teaching Hospital, District Mental Health Programme Psychiatrist Dr. Devin Karkad, Field Education Officer T.N. Palaksha, Senior Taluk Health Inspector G.V. Srinath, Health Inspector Prem Kumar and District Tobacco Control Cell Social Worker R. Manjunath.
Several others were also present at the camp.
