Sainik School Kodagu inaugurated its 20th Annual Athletic Meet 2026-27 at the School Athletics Field on Tuesday, with cadets displaying enthusiasm and sporting spirit.
Wg Cdr Mohammad Shaji, Officiating Principal, Sainik School Kodagu, was the Chief Guest, while Sqn Ldr Deepak Nayak, Administrative Officer, was the Guest of Honour.
The inaugural ceremony began with an impressive March Past, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the Sports Torch, symbolising the spirit of discipline, determination and sportsmanship. The release of doves also marked the formal commencement of the Athletic Meet.
Addressing the cadets and staff, Wg Cdr Mohammad Shaji called upon the cadets to strive for excellence and give their best in all sporting events. He emphasised that the Athletic Meet would provide valuable preparation for the forthcoming South Zone Sports Tournament, which is scheduled to be hosted by Sainik School Kodagu.
Highlighting the achievements of Nari Shakti in the Asian Games, the Chief Guest appreciated the outstanding performances of women athletes and encouraged the girl cadets to participate with confidence and determination. He noted that women athletes have demonstrated their ability to perform at par with, and on several occasions even better than, their male counterparts.
The ceremony was attended by academic and administrative staff members along with the cadets. The event marked the beginning of the School’s annual celebration of athletic talent, discipline and competitive spirit.
