The shooting of Kote Betta, a Kodava-language children’s film directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Kottukatthira Yashoda Prakash, was formally launched at the Sri Anjaneya Temple in Madikeri.
Former MLC Shantheyanda Veena Achaiah, speaking on the occasion, termed the initiative a commendable effort, noting that the film’s backdrop – Kote Betta – holds deep mythological significance in Kodagu. She expressed hope that the film would help children understand cultural and spiritual values.
Senior journalist Anil H.T. highlighted the importance of introducing children to rural traditions and indigenous games, especially in an age dominated by digital devices. He praised Yashoda Prakash as a leading figure in Kodagu cinema and described her as a cultural ambassador.
Senior artist Vanchira Nanaiah said the film would bring attention to the historical importance of Kote Betta while instilling cultural values in children.
Producer-director Yashoda Prakash stated that the film aims to capture the joy of childhood and emphasise the importance of connecting with nature. Co-producer Prakash Cariappa informed that the film will be shot over 20 days in Madapura and Kote Betta, featuring local talent.
