The Kodagu district BJP has criticised the Congress for its stance on the rising human-elephant conflict in the region.

Addressing a press conference, BJP District President Napanda Ravi Kalappa said three people had lost their lives in elephant attacks within ten days.

He questioned whether the BJP should remain silent in such circumstances.

Ravi Kalappa stated that the party’s protests and roadblocks had brought the issue to the Legislative Assembly, and urged the Forest Minister to convene a meeting of all stakeholders, including political leaders and officials, to find a permanent solution.

Former MLA and  Minister Appachu Ranjan said that measures such as clearing forest trenches, undertaken during the BJP regime, had helped control the situation, and their discontinuation has worsened the problem. He added that a ?1,500 crore project blueprint had earlier been prepared to address the issue.

FormerMLC Sunil Subramani emphasised the need for cooperation during challenging times and criticised opposition protests over fuel price issues.

Other party leaders, including Mahesh Jaini, B.K. Arun Kumar, and Sajil Krishna, were present.
