During November 2025, inspections were carried out across Kodagu district under the guidance of Additional Transport Commissioner (Promotion) Omkareshwari, Bengaluru, and Vasant Eshwar Chauhan, Joint Transport Commissioner, Mysuru Division.
A total of 1,140 vehicles-including tourist vehicles from outside the state-were inspected. The department collected Rs 1,57,21,024 under Part B tax, Rs 29,357 under Part A tax and Rs 2,27,800 in fines, amounting to a total revenue of Rs 1,59,78,181, surpassing the month’s target, said Regional Transport Officer S.T. Sathish.
From November 1 to 30, Air Pollution Control Awareness Month was observed across the district. Painting, essay and debate competitions were organised for students of General Thimmaiah Public School, Government PU College and other institutions. Awareness programmes were also held in association with Government Junior College and Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa College, under principals Vijay and Raghav, to highlight the dangers of air pollution.
KSRTC drivers were briefed on steps to prevent vehicular pollution. A valedictory ceremony was conducted at the RTO office, where prizes were awarded to winners of various competitions.
Speaking at the event, RTO Satish emphasised the importance of keeping vehicles in good condition, avoiding adulterated fuel or oil, and ensuring possession of mandatory pollution control certification. He said everyone shares responsibility in protecting the environment for future generations.
