Today, people have grown disillusioned with the executive and legislative branches, and place trust mainly in the press and judiciary. Journalists work in challenging conditions and often risk their lives, yet they lack adequate protection, he lamented. He also said the Information and Publicity Department should not be limited to distributing advertisements; instead, a safe and open environment must be created for journalists. A commission should be formed for this purpose. Many journalists fear legal action for reporting system failures; therefore, new laws are needed to protect them. He urged political parties to give journalists representation in the Legislative Council and Rajya Sabha.
