Ahead of the district’s quarterly progress review meeting on November 21 and the Pancha Guarantee Schemes workshop on November 22, the President of the District Guarantee Scheme Implementation Committee, Teethira Dharmaja Uthappa, instructed officials to provide accurate and consistent information supported by statistics.
Speaking at a meeting held at the Zilla Panchayat KDP Hall, he emphasized that the government’s flagship schemes-Shakti, Grihalakshmi, Grihajyoti, Annabhagya and Yuvanidhi-must be effectively monitored and accurately represented at the district-level conference.
He noted concerns that extremely poor families in certain parts of the district had been issued APL cards and said that a letter would be sent to the government urging the issuance of BPL cards to truly deserving families. He observed that in Malnad regions like Kodagu, economically weak families often possess motorcycles due to heavy rainfall conditions, leading to misclassification under APL.
Dharmaja Uthappa stated that district in-charge ministers, MLAs, state-level presidents and vice-presidents of the Guarantee Scheme committees, along with beneficiaries, would participate in the upcoming workshop.
