The Kodagu District Working Journalists’ Association has announced its annual awards for outstanding contributions in journalism for the year 2024. The recipients of the awards are as follows:
1.Best Rural Report Award (Tharminda Belyappa Memorial): Annira Harish Madappa for the report “One Town, Three Check Dams” published in Shakti newspaper.
2.Sports Report Award (K.K. Shashidhar Memorial): Ismail Kandakere for the report “Lack of Physical Strength Plaguing Kodagu Sportsmen” published in Vartha Bharati.
3.Best Videography Award (C.N. Sunil Kumar Memorial):
Manoj R.R. for the report “Hasira Manasiri Chanda Ambatta” aired on Vistara Channel.
Santosh Rai for the report “Jalala Jalala Jaldhare” aired on Chittar Channel.
4.Best Investigative Report Award (Instituted by Paleyanda Ponnappa): H.K. Jagadish for the report “Anechaukur Border – Illegal Trafficking” published in Shakti newspaper.
5.Forest and Wildlife Reporting Award (Mandibele Shamanna Memorial): H.E. Ravi for the report “Elephant-Human Conflict for Survival” published in Prajasatya.
6.Dairy Reporting Award (Uluvaran Sheshagiri Memorial): H.E. Ravi for the report “Brothers Succeeding in Dairy Farming” in Prajasatya.
7.Educational Report Award (Kakamada Nanaiah Memorial): Dinesh Malambi for the report “The Swimming Pool Built During Vacation” in Vijayavani.
8.Horticulture Reporting Award (Ajjamada Katti Mandaya Memorial): Dinesh Malambi for the report “Brothers’ Success in Agriculture” in Vijayavani.
9.Humanitarian Reporting Award (Chandrashekhar Memorial): Jagadish Jodubeeti for “Rasuganga Urulu Kantaka” in Vijayakarnataka.
10.Forest and Wildlife – Visual Media Reporting Award (Dyavamma Shyamanna Memorial): Aimanda Gopal Somaiya for “Timber Mafia – A Threat to Forests” aired on TV9.
11.Army-related Visual Media Reporting Award (Thenana Somanna Memorial): Bacharaniyand Anu Cariappa for “Like Father, Like Son – Nanda Kariappa’s Journey” aired on Republic Kannada.
12.Humanity Visual Media Reporting Award (T.K. Subrahmanya Bhat Memorial): Adv. P. Krishnamurthy for “Mother, Let Me Hold Your Hand” aired on Chittar Channel.
13.Health Reporting Award (Kotera Muthanna Memorial): Jagadish Jodubeeti for a report on Karakandi Hadi in Vijayakarnataka.
14.Best News Photograph Award (Alfen Glow Homestay Memorial): P.V. Akshay for the photograph of “Thangka” published in Star of Mysore.
15.Best Cultural Report Award (D. Krishnaiah Memorial): H.J. Rakesh for “Kodagina Kadumakkalu” in Shakti newspaper.
16.Environment and Sanitation Report Award (Uttaiah-Subbamma Memorial): M.N. Chandramohan for “Sargots Do Not Hear the Cry of Kaveri” in Shakti.
17.Agricultural Reporting Award (Parvathamma Appaswamy Memorial): Kishore Kumar Shetty for “Three Generations of Indigenous Farming” in Shakti.
18.Tiger Conservation Reporting Award (Mariyanda Poovaiah Memorial): Jagadish Jodubeeti for “Unfounded Tiger Scare in South Kodagu” in Vijayakarnataka.
All awardees will be felicitated at the Annual General Meeting of the association, said General Secretary Bacharaniyanda Anu Cariappa in an official statement.
