Five arrested in connection with the murder of a Kerala man in Kodagu

The Kodagu district police has arrested five people suspected  for their involvement in the recent murder of  Kerala man Pradeep Koyli  in a coffee plantation in Kongana B. Shettigeri village under Gonikoppa police station limits.

Anil N.S. (25) of Mugutageri village in Ponnampet taluk, Deepak (21) of Abburukatte in Somwarpet taluk, Swephan D’Souza (26) of Nerugalle, Karthik H.M. (27) of Hittalamakki and Harish P.S. (29) of Nallur village in Ponnampet are the arrested accused persons.

Cash of Rs. 13.03 lakhs have been recovered from the accused arrested gang, two two-wheelers used in the crime, two mobile phones and  the deceased’s mobile phone and property documents belonging to the deceased  were  seized.

A case was registered in the Gonikoppa police station on April 23 for the murder of Pradeep Koyli of Kannur district, who lived in a coffee plantation house in B. Shettigeri village. He was killed  by hanging .  Kodagu  District Superintendent of Police K. Ramarajan informed at a press conference that the accused in this case, Anil N.S., was trying to marry the young woman  he loved, but her family members had denied him, saying that he did not have any property and money. For this reason, Anil told the police during interrogation that he committed the crime with the intention of quickly acquiring property and money.

The arrested accused Anil is accused of defrauding people in Bangalore, Hassan and Ponnampet by getting acquainted with people in the places where he worked and making them believe that there was treasure in their land.

Anil identified  people who lived alone and had a lot of property.  Similarly he tried to dupe a single woman in Thitimathi under the Gonikoppa police station limits on the pretext of buying and selling property.

It is said that Anil, who had confirmed the information that the deceased Pradeep Koyli was unmarried and had a lot of property, had discussed the business of buying
a plantation through intermediaries. The SP said that he had given Rs 1 lakh in advance to the deceased Pradeep Koyli on his behalf, telling him that the property buyer was abroad.

The subdivision level special investigation team formed to find the accused involved in the Pradeep Koyli murder case included Virajpet DySP Mahesh Kumar S., Gonikoppal CPI Shivaraj Mudol, Virajpet CPI Anoop Madappa P., Kutta CPI Shivarudra B.S., Gonikoppa PSI Pradeep Kumar, Virajpet PSI Pramod Kumar, Ponnampet PSI Naveen G., Srimangala PSI Ravindra, Kutta PSI Mahadeva H.K., Virajpet Rural PSI Latha N.J. and subdivision level Crime Investigation Department personnel and DCRB personnel and technical staff. SP Ramarajan congratulated the team who were successful in nabbing the murderers.
