Speaking at the Muddanda Cup Final Tournament in Madikeri, Virajpet MLA A.S Ponnanna and legal advisor to the CM, said that despite a very small population of the Kodava community, their contribution to the country in various fields, including the army and sports is significant.
The Chief Minister has provided grants to various sports grounds and sports facilities in the district, including the Ponnampet Girls’ Sports Hostel.
Till now successive governments had neglected the development of Kodagu. But the current state government is now committed to the over all development of Kodagu, Ponnanna informed.
MLA on the occasion also congratulated all the family committees who have organized and conducted the Kodava Hockey Festival for last 25 years
Kodava hockey will exist forever as long as the sun and moon shine, Ponnanna added.
Ponnanna thanked Ministers Parameshwar, Dinesh Gundurao, and Bairati Suresh who graced the occasion and came to watch finals on behalf of the government.
