Operation underway to capture Tiger which has been attacking cattle

Elephants Gopi and Sriram from Dubare Elephant Camp have been engaged in an operation to track and capture a Tiger, which has been on prowl in South Kodagu near Teralu Village. The Tiger has been attacking and feasting on cattle in the area.

Virajpet MLA A S Ponnanna impressed upon the Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre and the Principal Conservator of Forests, about the gravity of the situation. They have granted permission to track and capture the Tiger and relocate it to rehabilitation center.

State Wildlife Board Meriyanda Sanket Poovaiah, visited the base camp where the elephants have arrived and inspected the preparations. The operation will begin tomorrow. The Forest Department Officers, staff and mahouts will participate in the operation.
