Karnataka State Regional Department Public records of Mysore in association with Kodagu Deputy commissioner office, an workshop was recently held regarding Documents Maintenance at Madikeri Zilla Panchyat office under Article-2010 and Rules-2013 .
Speaking after inaugurating the workshop Additional Deputy commissioner R. Aishwarya said that “It is our duty to protect government files for the public purposes,” she said.
Public has the opportunity to file for documents from government departments through the RTI and Seva sindhu projects. In such a case the maintenance of daily office files is very essential.
Dr. Gavisiddhaiah, Director of Karnataka State Regional Department Public records said that the Karnataka State Regional Department is collecting and preserving the historical record of the state .
The Public Records Act has been issued with the aim of bringing transparency in the management and conservation of all departmental offices under the aegis of the state government.
The State Regional Department has organized such a training program with the aim of enriching this Act and the rule and that the campers should follow the rules and have to implement these rules in their daily official work.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Director Dr. Nalkudri Sadanandappa said that these types of workshop will help in maintaining to solve the challenge the problems of the management with timely projects like RTI .
He explained that it is the duty of government employees to protect the documents that are necessary for the public and the next generation and the rules in the management of daily office files are the duty of the government employees.
Senior Assistant Director H L Manjunatha spoke about the purpose of organizing the workshop and informed that the State Department is managing historic records and these documents are beneficial to the public, government departments and researchers. Today’s files are used as historical records for the next generation and for people who writes history. So the files we preserve today will be useful for the next generation, he added. This is the reason why the workshop was organized with the aim to have the knowledge of maintenance of records in proper manner and requested all the concerned officials to take advantage of it.
More than 80 officers/employees from various departments of Kodagu district participated in the workshop. Officials of the State Department of Regional Department Public records gave the training to the officials.
Director Dr. Gavisiddhaya gave information in the preparing Public Records Act and the documenting it.
Dr. Nelkudri Sadananda, Deputy Director of the Department explained the rules for the classification of documents and the destruction of expired files.
HL Manjunatha, Assistant Director of the Department gave details of documentation, Naryan Babu explained about a micro -shooting on the protection of files , Krishna Prasad, record assistant informed about the management of record rooms, on the occasion.
