MLA AS Ponnanna speaking at a meeting of Congress workers in Birunani informed that the state government has released Rs 10 crore for constructing a Mini Vidhana Soudha in the newly formed Ponnampet taluk.
He said that the funds had not been released for development though the taluk was formed in 2018 and added that he brought this to the government’s attention, resulting in the release of necessary funds.
The MLA emphasized that government funds should be used properly and that no misuse, leading to substandard work, would be allowed.
MLA further said that electricity sub-stations are being constructed at a cost Rs 112 crore in Balele, Hudikeri, Siddapura, and Murnadu, with tenders already issued. Tenders for Bhagamandala, Katageri, Hosuru, and Kalathmadu will be issued in two months. A total of Rs 208 crore has been approved for electricity upgrades in the district, he said.He further said that the Gonikoppa bus stand construction, costing Rs 2 crore, is nearing completion. Steps have been taken to build a park in Virajpet town with a budget of Rs 3.50 crore. The Bhagamandala flyover project is completed and open to the public, he added.He also said that a model park is being constructed at Triveni Sangama with a budget of Rs 2 crore.District Congress president Titira Dharmaja Uttappa was also present at the meeting.
