The Kodagu District BJP’s Backward Classes Morcha recently staged a protest in front of the Kodagu Deputy Commissioner’s office, alleging that appropriate funds are not being released to various corporations under the welfare department of backward classes after the Congress government came to power in the state.
The leaders and activists who took part in the protest led by District President of Backward Classes Morcha Appu Ravindra and others shouted slogans against the state government.
On the occasion Ravindra accused the state government for not caring about the backward classes and demanded the release of necessary grants to various corporations under the backward classes’ welfare department.
Speaking on the occasion District BJP president Napanda Ravi Kalappa said that the Congress government, which came to power with the help of backward classes, is presently ignoring them. He alleged that they are trying to use the money of various corporations for ‘free schemes’ with the sole purpose of fulfilling the fortunes announced to come to power in the state.
Speaking further he said that the Congress government is not able to release the necessary funds for the free guarantee schemes announced by them, and a minister has gone to jail due to the corruption of the Valmiki Corporation and also criticized that returning of plots suddenly to MUDA shows that the current state government led by CM Siddaramaiah, is a corrupt government.
He also warned that if the land, which has been cultivated for many years by the poor farmers, and now the waqf board is claiming that some of them are their property then the people will give suitable answer for this, he also requested waqf board to give a suitable record to claim it.
VK Lokesh, District BJP general secretary speaking on the occasion said that the Congress government has adopted a discriminatory attitude in providing grants to the corporation boards for the development of various groups including Valmiki and Kadugollaru belonging to the backward classes. 576 crores grant was provided to the Corporation Boards earlier. He alleged that in the last year 2023-24, the Congress government had given Rs 340 crore, out of which only Rs 170 crore was utilized.
He criticized that the applications received for providing necessary assistance to poor farmers under 2 hectares under Ganga Kalyan Yojana were not released.
District President of Morcha Appu Ravindra said that there is a huge difference between the amount announced in the budget and the amount actually released. He said that due to this, various backward class and economically poor communities are suffering a lot.
Appu Ravindra alleged that CM Siddaramaiah, who chants Ahinda mantra and exploits the backward communities for political selfishness, has put a stone in the welfare work of the backward communities.
