District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. Satish Kumar speaking at the ‘World AIDS Day’ program which was recently held at the Government Pre-Graduation College, Madikeri said that ‘Health is a human right’, everyone has the right to get health services. Accordingly, HIV infected people have the opportunity to get all the health services without any hesitation.
The programme was organised by District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society, District Health and Family Welfare Department, District AIDS Control Unit, District Legal Services Authority, Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences, Indian Red Cross Society, Madikeri Lions Club, Government Pre-Graduate College, FMKM Cariappa  College, Government First Class College, Government Women’s College with the slogan ‘Let’s follow the right path to get our rights and my health is my right’
Speaking further Dr. Sathish Kumar said that people are being made aware of the measures taken by the government and non-governmental organizations to control HIV AIDS. Â ‘Health is a human right’ and everyone has the right to access healthcare. Accordingly, provision of all health services-HIV prevention treatment and care services to HIV-infected persons without any stigma discrimination, gender discrimination, HIV status etc. They also have the right to get all health services, he said. By protecting everyone’s right to health and reducing new infections, we can create an AIDS-free nation, said Dr. Satish Kumar.
