It was heartwarming to see PM Modi address a mega ‘Modi & US’ community event in the Nassau Coliseum in New York’s Long Island. At this event he addressed 13000 American Indians who had travelled from different parts of USA, just to see their favourite world leader and hear him speak. Famous artists like rapper Hanumankind and singers Aditya Gadhvi and Devi Sriprasad opened the event with their performances before PM Modi took the stage. While taking to stage, Modiji warmly greeted Rapper Hanumankind with Jai Hanuman and hugged him. All through the event, the Modi…Modi… Modi chants of his fans marked the event.
This was part of his three-day visit to the US which also involved a roundtable discussion with tech CEOs in New York, bilateral meetings with counterparts KP Sharma Oli of Nepal and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah Al-Sabah of Kuwait.
At the start of his address to the Indian-Americans and Indians working in the US, Modiji thanked them, for being living bridges that join both India and the US. He spoke of India’s global and tech ambitions and said that very soon the world could be using semiconductor chips that are made and manufactured in India.
Talking of India’s commitment to environmental protection, he assured all present, that India was committed to fighting global warming, climate change and reducing dependence on conventional forms of energy, boosting use of green energy in the process, and said India does not wish to destroy the planet.
He cheered all present by announcing that India will open two new consulates in Boston and Los Angeles, to meet the long-pending demand of the fast-growing Indian American community in these two large American cities. Terming India as a “land of opportunities”, Modi said that he has set very ambitious goals for the country during his third term.
His statement that, “India today has a foreign policy of maintaining equal closeness with all and not equal distance” was hailed with gusto.
Referring to his famous remarks in Russia that “This is not the time for war,” Modi told the diaspora that the severity and the seriousness of this was understood by all friends.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated before the members of the Indian diaspora that when India speaks on a global platform, the world listens keenly, reflecting on India’s plan to help resolve current major conflicts through discussion and dialogue.
In lighter vein he said “Ab apna Namaste bhi multinational hogyahai, local se global hogaya…..” He frankly told the crowds, “Your love is my good fortune…” receiving loud cheers and appreciation from the audience.
Talking of development in India, he mentioned that 25 Crore People Have Come Out of Poverty ‘In One Decade’. And said this third term of his will see huge changes in Bharat.
During this interaction, Modiji also mentioned the return of 297 antiquities that had been stolen or trafficked from India. These will shortly be repatriated to India. In a symbolic handing over, a select few pieces were showcased to Prime Minister and President Biden on the sidelines of their bilateral meeting in Wilmington, Delaware. He noted that these objects were not just part of India’s historical material culture, but formed the inner core of its civilization and consciousness.
Leader Of Opposition: US Visit Highlights.
In a public discourse Vibhuti Jha, said LOP cannot stand for leader of the opposition. He said it should rightfully be LOO.
The Leader of Opposition (LOO) from India visited the US from 08 Sep to 10 Sep this year. However during this visit, he made headlines for all the wrong reasons. Ilhan Omar is a US Congress woman (of Pakistani origin), who harbours very strong anti-India sentiments. Amit Malaviya of BJP terms her a “highly radicalised Islamist”. The LOO, met this lady in a highly publicised meeting, giving all Bhartiya’s a feeling that ‘he opposes Kashmir being a part of India’.
During the visit, this Leader of Opposition’s (LOO) comments, about the Sikhs of India, gave one a feeling, that Sikhs were being targeted in India, because a small percentage of Sikhs, keep demanding for Khalistan, a seperate nation for Sikhs. During his comments, LOO wondered, whether Sikhs would be allowed to wear a turban or a ‘kada’ and go to Gurdwara in India. By this statement the Leader of Opposition was trying to paint a picture in the US, that under the present BJP rule Sikhs were being targeted and their personal safety in India was in danger. For this comment he has been booked under sections 299 (deliberate and malicious acts that are intended to insult religious beliefs or outrage religious feelings of any class) and 302 (intentionally hurting someone’s religious feelings by words, sounds, gestures, or objects) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita by Amarjeet Singh Chhabra, in a case lodged in Raipur. He said that by making the remark the leader had hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community in India. Such FIRs have been lodged against LOO in other parts of the country too.
During the visit, the LOO also met up with Donald Lu, currently serving as the Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, a position he has held since September 2021. Previously he was the US Ambassador to Bangla desh. Prior to that, he was the US Ambassador to Albania and Kyrgyzstan, where he gained a controversial reputation for interfering in the political processes of these countries. In simple terms, he may be called as ‘ US, Regime Change Expert’.
Both Prime Minster Imran Khan of Pakistan and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangla Desh were ousted from their posts by covert regime change operations engineered by the US, to topple their governments. Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, is languishing in Pakistani prison to this day, while the other leader, former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheik Hasina, fled to India following a violent coup in her country. Both these ousters occurred during Donald Lu’s presence in these countries.
So, what exactly this LOO wanted to achieve by this three-day visit to the US, is anybody’s guess.
