Doddapulikotu Village Welfare Committee has requested the district administration not to give permission to build a resort in the river bank of Doddapulikotu village which is on the list of possible natural disasters.
In the press conference, former member of Ballamavati Gram Panchayat Karavanda Lava Nanaiah said that on the border of Doddapulikotu and Peruru village, near Kaveri’s tributary “Kappole”, works are going on in full swing for the construction of a resort.
The concerned department should take necessary action to stop this immediately. He warned that if there is no adequate response to their demand, after September 20, they will protest in large number with the cooperation of the villagers.
It has been reported that the Ballamavati Gram Panchayat has not given no-objection letter for the construction of the resort and even though the work is going on, they alleged. They also informed that there is a natural water source centre that supplies water to around 250 families in the village, Sri Kote Bhagwati Temple, Government Model Primary School, Anganwadis and added that if the resort is built, the water source will be affected.
Lava Nanaiah said that they have no objection if agricultural activities were carried out in the proposed area. However, a person from outside the state has now started construction of the resort, and now the transformer installation work has been done in addition to this. Efforts have been made to drill borewells. He expressed concern that due to all these works, there is a possibility of facing problems in drinking water and water required for agricultural activities in the village.
In the background of all these reasons, the members of the village welfare committee and the villagers met at the Sri Kote Bhagwati temple of the village and decided to submit a request to the legislators, district commissioner, concerned department heads and the government not to issue any license for the construction of the resort.
Ballamavati grama former president and current member Mukkathira Sutan Subbaiah, village gram vice president Chokira Bobby Bhimaiah, Village headman Karavanda M. Bopanna, villagers Appachira B. Thammaiah and KaravandaAppanna were present during the press conference.
